There are many simple things you can do to focus on your weight loss goals. We all hear about things like this almost daily. Here are 10 Weight Loss Tips that I have found to be the most helpful.
– Track your calories all day long using something that will total as you enter your food and exercise. MyFitnessPal and LoseIt are great apps for your iPod/iPhone or Droid. Entering your food and exercise calories throughout the day makes sure you don’t have to remember something later… it’s easy to forget otherwise.
– Have scheduled exercise times during the week. Literally make an appointment with yourself. Having these set times makes it easy for you and for your family, work, friends, etc. Everybody knows when you will be busy taking critical time for YOU.
– If you have to drive to work, park at least a 5 minute walk away. You’ll automatically get 10 minutes of walking in each day. It’s also a great way to have time to plan your day on the walk in and to relax at the end of the day.
– Its easier to avoid the temptations of bad snacks if you simple don’t buy them. If they are not in the house already, you will be less tempted. Don’t forget to work with the rest of your household to buy only healthy snacks too.
– When you find that you have a few extra minutes in your day, take a brisk walk or do something else that will get your heart pumping. Even 10 minutes here and there can make a difference. This is another time when having some standard exercises routines comes in very handy!
– Be honest with yourself. Losing weight can feel hard at times, and you may need a treat at times. Don’t cheat yourself. Track even the treats honestly. Tracking calories is the most important thing you will do – be sure to do it right.
– If you go over your daily calorie budget, review it at the end of the day so you know what happened. Its about making good choices all day long. One wrong choice can put you over your budget. Remember that you can always learn from your mistakes. And be sure to read the next tip.
– Don’t beat yourself up if you have a rough day. Sometimes you may go over your calorie budget. (remember the previous tip?) Sometimes you may not lose as much weight as you thought you should. Sometimes it may not seem worth the effort.. Sometimes you may get off track.. Don’t beat yourself up. Regroup yourself, remember your weight loss motivation, then get back to your program and tracking. You WILL get there.
– Water.. drink lots of water.. Keep a water bottle with you all the time. Something at least decent sized like 20-25 ounces. If you get a craving for a soda or another not so healthy drink, tell yourself you have to drink a bottle of water first. If you still want the other drink after a bottle of water, then just be sure to track it. At least you’ve added to your water consumption for the day.
You can consider taking liquid diet plans too.
– Allow yourself a treat once in a while. This is not dieting or self deprivation. This is about learning new habits for your future. You don’t have to go without any treats. You just have to be aware of what treats you allow yourself, how often and their impact on your daily calorie budget.
